In December 2019 I was master of ceremonies at the gala of a hackathon on water stress. My job was to present the projects and the winners. It was a speaking role, not an organising one.
At a hackathon gala the master of ceremonies is a translator. The teams had built technical answers to a public problem, and the audience needed to grasp each one quickly enough to see why the winners won. The work is to find the sentence that makes a project legible, say it, and then step aside so the team gets the attention.
What I take forward
I can make someone else's work understood in one sentence without taking the credit for it.
