Nizzar Ben Chekroune was listed by TIME in June 2022 among the 100 most influential people in Web3. The recognition is documented in a video on his own channel. It is a recognition, not a client engagement, and it is distinct from his advisory relationship with TIME's Keith Grossman on TIMEPieces.

The recognition

In June 2022 TIME listed me among the 100 most influential people in Web3. I documented it in a video on my channel.

Influence in Web3 that year meant something concrete. People acted on what you said: collectors bought or held back, communities formed around a project or left it, founders changed course. A list of influence in that market is a list of people whose judgment others were already using.

TIME was not an outside observer of that market. Under Keith Grossman it had launched TIMEPieces, a Web3 project of its own, so the list came from a publisher with a stake in the space.

What stood behind it

By June 2022 I had been working inside Web3 for about a year, on several fronts at once. In 2021 I founded Unlimitart, a fund for collecting digital art that raised $2.7M. In June 2021 I co-founded Nception, a venture connecting brand strategy, NFTs and digital communities. From July 2021 I advised Stan Wawrinka on Web3, from October 2021 Dubai Holding, and in May 2022 I began co-organising BananaConf in Tallinn.

Each was a different kind of exposure. Unlimitart put my judgment to work with capital. Nception put it to work for brands. Stan Wawrinka and Dubai Holding put it to work for one person and one institution, each with a great deal to lose. BananaConf put it in front of a crowd.

The list is TIME's. The work above is mine, and it is what I was doing when the list appeared.

What it is, and what it is not

This is a recognition, not a project. It describes no mandate from TIME. It is separate from my advisory relationship with Keith Grossman, then President of TIME, on TIMEPieces, where Keith asked my advice on his next collection and kept consulting me afterwards. That relationship has its own case. A recognition belongs in the history of a career, labelled as what it is.

On this site it sits next to the TIMEPieces and NFT Liverpool records because all three involve TIME, not because one led to another. A recognition proves standing. The work is in the cases around it.

What I take forward

Recognition follows the work and does not replace it. I keep the two apart so each can be read for what it is.
