Collaboration during the UNIDO institutional mandate

In 2018 I worked with Hivos on African Crossroads in two capacities. As project manager, I ran a day presenting Marrakech handicrafts. As a UNIDO expert, I led a workshop on UNIDO's strategy.

Both came out of my mandate as Cluster Development Agent in Marrakech for Creative Mediterranean. Inside the programme, the crafts and the strategy were reported to institutions. At African Crossroads they had to make sense to people outside that reporting line: the objects had to carry their own value, and the strategy had to be explained as a method others could use.

What I take forward

I treat an outside stage as a test of whether a programme's work still stands once the institutional framing is removed.
